SA 516 Grade 70 plates and sheets are carbon steel products that possess very good strength and weldability. They contain carbon (0.27–0.31%), manganese (0.79–1.30%), phosphorus (≤0.035%), sulfur (≤0.035%), and silicon (0.13–0.45%) in their composition. The plates have high mechanical properties, including a minimum tensile strength of 485–620 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 260 MPa. They possess good impact resistance and can be used for pressure vessels and boilers. Their superior notch toughness and strength in harsh temperatures render them a widely used selection across many industrial uses.
