High Carbon Steel C60 plates and sheets are high-strength, abrasion-resistant materials that are intended for challenging mechanical and industrial uses. C60 grade steel has a greater carbon content than medium carbon steels but provides better hardness and tensile strength following heat treatment. The sheets and plates come in different thicknesses and finishes to meet specific engineering requirements. They are normally supplied in annealed, normalized, or hardened and tempered conditions. Renowned for strength and stability, C60 steel materials are utilized in areas where abrasion, fatigue, and deformation resistance is paramount.
C60 steel has about 0.57% to 0.65% carbon content and 0.60% to 0.90% manganese, with traces of phosphorus and sulfur. It provides a tensile strength of 650 to 850 MPa and yield strength of usually 350 MPa, as a function of heat treatment condition. The steel offers great surface hardness and wear properties after hardening, although weldability is restricted because of the high carbon content. C60 has good machinability in annealed form and can be heat treated to obtain specific mechanical performance for high-load applications.
