High Carbon Steel C55 sheets and plates are carbon steels with high strength that have superior wear resistance, hardness, and toughness. C55 steel has about 0.52% to 0.60% carbon, 0.60% to 0.90% manganese, and small amounts of impurities like phosphorus and sulfur within specified ranges. It possesses good tensile strength of between 600 to 800 MPa and satisfactory yield strength above 350 MPa, based on heat treatment. The steel is distinguished by high wear resistance and average ductility. It is poorly weldable and machinable in the hardened state but is well suitable for annealing. These mechanical properties make C55 appropriate for use in instances where hardness, edge holding, and fatigue strength are needed under mechanical loading.
