SA 285 Grade C steel is a carbon steel with a straightforward composition, mainly made up of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. The typical chemical makeup includes Carbon (≤ 0.28%), Manganese (0.60–1.20%), Phosphorus (≤ 0.035%), and Sulfur (≤ 0.035%). It provides moderate strength and good weldability. The mechanical properties feature a tensile strength ranging from 380 to 515 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa. This grade isn’t heat-treated, making it ideal for moderate-pressure applications that require excellent formability and structural integrity under low to moderate temperature and pressure conditions.
