The AISI 4140 pipes are made using a chromium-molybdenum alloy structural steel or alloy, which has very good strength, toughness, and wear resistance. The proportions of the elements in this composition include 0.38-0.43% carbon, 0.75-1.00% manganese, 0.80-1.10% chromium, and 0.15-0.25% molybdenum. These have high tensile strengths (850-1000 MPa) and yield strengths (≥ 415 MPa), and they also show good impact resistance. The benefits include improved hardness, machinability, fatigue resistance, and heat treatability, which makes these alloys one of the most reliable alloys for industries with heavy usage in the automotive, construction, and manufacturing industries.
